You can set up a Valve Schedule on your device to open or close the valve at a specified time on a weekday or a weekend. You can also use it to silence alerts during a specified period.

A typical use for this would be an office which operates from 9am – 5pm on weekdays and is closed on weekends; an “Open + Ignore Alerts” zone can be created when it is open and a “Closed ” zone when nobody should be there.  

You can create up to 20 “actions” that will be uploaded and saved to your device, so your schedules will still be followed, even if your LeakNet device loses connection to the internet.

Finding the schedule editor

1. Select your device from the main dashboard
2. Click the “Settings” button
3. Scroll down and click “Valve Schedules” under the “Valve Settings” section

Creating a new scheduled action

You can create a new action to occur on weekdays or weekends.

1. From the schedule editor, click “Create new weekday schedule” or “Create new weekend schedule”.
2. In the dialog, select whether you want the valve to open or close at a specified time.
3. Enter a time that you want the action to occur at – this must not overlap with any existing events.
   1. Optional (for open events only): Click “Show Advanced Options” and select if you want alerts to be silenced from this time. Alerts will be silenced from the start of the event until the end of the day, or until the next action. This will ensure that any consumption from the specified time is uninterrupted, and your LeakNet device will not close the valve in the event of a leak alert. Keep in mind, this disables all leak alerts! To ensure leak detection works as expected, verify the start and end times for both the Silence and Enable Alerts actions in the timeline.
4. Click “Create new action” to create the event.

Note: Your changes will not be saved until you upload the changes to the device (see below).

Editing and deleting an action

1. To edit an action, click the “Edit” button underneath the action on the timeline.
2. Deleting an open or close valve action will remove that action. You can only delete an “Enable Alerts” action if there is an Open Valve event following it. If you delete an “Enable alerts” event, this will extend the period that alerts are silenced for until the end of the day, or the next event.

Note: Your changes will not be saved until you upload the changes to the device (see instructions below).

Uploading your changes to the device

1. Once you have finished making changes, check the timeline to ensure that each action occurs at the expected time.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click “Save and upload this schedule”. FlowReporter will then upload the schedule to your LeakNet device.
3. The device will restart to apply the new schedule. This should happen immediately but please allow up to 4 hours for the new schedule to be applied to your device.

Example

Only open the valve during office hours

The LeakNet device is installed in an office building that only requires running water between 7:30am and 7:30pm on weekdays. To reduce the risk of damage from potential leaks whilst nobody is in the building, we can schedule the LeakNet device to open the valve only when necessary.

1. Create a new “Open Valve” weekday action at 7:30am.
   
2. Create a new “Close Valve” event at 7:30pm
   
3. Confirm the new events on the timeline
   
4. Click “Save and Upload” to upload the new schedule to the device.
   

Silencing alerts during expected high flow times

Let’s expand on the scenario above. Between 6pm and 7:30pm, a cleaning team enter the building and use a large amount of water sometimes causing false alerts. We can solve this by scheduling the device to silence alerts from 6pm.

1. Create an additional “Open Valve” event at 6pm
   
2. Click “Show advanced options”
3. Check “Silence alerts from this time”
   
4. Click “Create Action”. We can now see on the timeline that the start and end time for the silence and enable alerts event have been calculated properly. If we’d want the “Enable Alerts” to be before the valve is closed, we’d need to create another Open Valve event at our desired time.
   
5. Click “Save and Upload” to apply the new schedule.
