Register Base (Flow Sensor/Leak Cable/Valve)

To register a device to your account:

  1. Click “Register Device” from the app.
  2. Plug-in the Base Device and make sure the “Status” light is blinking blue. if it isn’t, press and hold the “Mode” button until it does.
  3. Connect to the new WiFi hotspot it creates, It will look similar to FlowReporter-ABCD on your network list.
  4. Return to FlowReporter and click “Next”. If you are getting problems at this stage, try each of the following steps (you may need to kill the app to start again if necessary):
    1. This WiFi will have no internet access, so if you see a message warning you and asking if you still want to connect - click yes!
    2. On newer phones (2024+), they have the capability to connect to multiple WiFi points which will not work, try disconnecting from all WiFi (so only use cellular) and start again from step 1.
    3. Power off the Base Device, wait 10 seconds, then start again from step 1.
    4. If the connection still fails, put the Base Device into safe mode by holding the “Mode” button until it flashes purple (about 25s). Then start again from step 1.
    5. If the connection still fails, manually set your IP address to 192.168.0.2 instead of using DHCP. To do this:
      1. In your WiFi settings, tap and hold the FlowReporter-ABCD network until a box appears.
      2. Select “Manage network settings”, then “Show advanced options”.
      3. Choose “Static” from the “IP settings” menu.
      4. Input 192.168.0.2 as the IP address (and 255.255.255.0 into subnet if it asks) and save
  5. The device will now scan for and display other WiFi networks.
  6. Select the desired network you want it to connect to.
  7. Type in the password (if there is one).
  8. Click “Connect“.
  9. If it asks you if you would like to change owner:
    1. Choose Yes to make yourself the new owner and remove all other users.
    2. Choose No if you're simply changing the WiFi network the device is connected to (keeps access to all users).
  10. Wait 10 seconds. Make sure you’re connected back online, and the “Status” light is slowly breathing light blue (or purple which shows it’s updating), then select “Continue”.
    1. If the “Status” light is flashing dark blue or green, the connection failed and you should press “Reset”.
  11. Choose a name for your device (no spaces, but this can be changed later)
  12. If it asks you whether you would like to Keep or Delete data?
    1. Keep data - the previous configuration and alerts remain the same as before
    2. Delete data - start from scratch and delete all configuration, alerts and users
  13. You will be taken to the “Configure Device” page.
